Company: Quokka Wellness
Activities planned for Workplace Wellbeing Day
I am organising a Mindful Commute that is broader than just our company. We are rolling it out across the city of Galway on April 12th.
It’s well known in our city that almost 45,000 people work & commute daily in Galway. And well over half of us go to work in single-occupancy cars.
For National Workplace Wellbeing Day, we’re encouraging the people of Galway to cycle, walk, carpool or use public transport to get to work. It is well known that commuting alone in your car can increase stress levels, and can be one of the most frustrating parts of our working day. So oil up your bike, get a carpool going or meet some work pals and walk to work.
As someone who regularly cycles to work, I can tell the difference in my stress and energy levels compared to the days I drive. And I don’t want to sit in my car, silently seething as I sit in traffic lights for 20 minutes when I know there’s some alternative.
And on this National Day of focus on Workplace Wellbeing, this is a simple but significant action we can take to make our daily working lives & commute a little more enjoyable, and is good for both our mental & physical health. And what can be better than that?!
